He is building His House...

1 Peter 2:2–5 (ESV)
“Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to Him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”

1 Peter 2:9 (ESV)
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.”

We have talked many times about the glory of God, the light of God, and the reality that you and I have been translated out of the kingdom of darkness into His marvellous light. The glory of God is the beautiful light shining on the inside of our hearts. Our hearts are filled with that glory. Our hearts carry the correct path to walk in.

As I pray, and as I dream, and as I think about building the Church of God, the house of God, and the place of worship, the Lord really showed me a picture in prayer. He showed me how the prayers of the saints, joined with the flow of the Holy Spirit, are how God builds His house.

Romans 8:26 (ESV)
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”

This is the labour God speaks about.

Psalm 127:1 (ESV)
“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain.”

It is God who builds the house. And as He builds, He equips us. He gives us grace, ability, understanding, and knowledge. But that equipping and structuring begins in a place where the Church yields to the Spirit of God and allows the Spirit of God to build first in the spirit realm.

The image I keep seeing is of bricks being built up into a glowing structure. They are transparent, lit from the inside, and each one represents the yielded prayers of the saints. This house is being built as we pray.

Anything that is produced by prayer is first invisible before it becomes visible. The structure we build in prayer becomes something real in our lives.

Hebrews 11:1 (ESV)
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Our prayers, led by the Spirit, edify our spirit.

Jude 1:20 (ESV)
“But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit…”

As you pray, you are stirring faith, building faith, and creating spiritual capacity inside your very being. That capacity allows you to see into the spirit realm, and seeing into the spirit realm by faith allows you to imagine and meditate on what God has promised for your life.

There are things in God’s Word and things in your heart that God Himself placed there. Deep desires. Deep callings. Deep whisperings. Many people have forgotten what God did in their past. Many have forgotten the way God came through. Many have forgotten the whisper of the Spirit from their youth. Some laid aside what God spoke because they discovered natural skills and natural dreams instead.

Many have put aside their prayers, their hopes, and their expectancy because hope deferred made their heart sick.

Our hearts must be renewed again. We must allow God to pray through us and reignite our dreams.

Psalm 37:4 (ESV)
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

He places the desires there first.

Colossians 2:3 (ESV)
“In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

The wisdom of God provides answers, security, and riches of understanding. And wisdom is not hiding from you.

Proverbs 8:1–4 (ESV)
“Does not wisdom call? Does not understanding raise her voice? On the heights beside the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand… To you, O men, I call, and my cry is to the children of man.”

God is not hiding things from you. He is hiding things for you.

James 5:16 (ESV)
“The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”

Hebrews 11:3 (ESV)
“By faith we understand that the universe was created by the Word of God…”

All prayer must be done from a place of faith and trust in God.

The house we are building is being framed by our prayers, and you and I are becoming the spiritual house that contains the very living power of God.

Faith Life Preston will become a physical building. There will be a place we call our own. But God is first building something in our hearts—something through our prayer, our unity, and our willingness to become carriers of His glory.

2 Corinthians 4:7 (ESV)
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.”

1 Corinthians 2:4 (ESV)
“My speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.”

Romans 1:16 (ESV)
“The gospel… is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.”

This is the power we carry. This is the glory we carry. This is the light that lives on the inside of us.

Psalm 119:105 (ESV)
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

1 John 1:7 (ESV)
“If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another…”

Ephesians 2:6 (ESV)
“And raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

This is our positional authority. But here on earth we live as kings through righteousness. We walk in godliness. We stand clothed in humility, fully equipped in the armour of God, serving the King of kings and the Lord of lords with a surrendered heart.

This is how God builds His house. This is how God builds His Church. This is how God builds you.
