Potential. You have it. It’s time to live it.

When I meet new people for the first time. whether it is at church or in a random coffee shop, one of the things I try to do is listen for their potential. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t analyse everyone and immediately decide their future. My natural inclination is to seek out through the conversation what a person is capable of. They may be a great parent but have the potential to be awesome. They could run a small business but have the potential to solve problems for large corporations. A lady in the church could raise up many children to relationship with God. A cameraman could become a pastor or leader.

I love seeing the possibility of greatness in people. I love to see opportunities come that release people into larger places of influence. The capacity for someone that goes after everything in life is so large. We often fail to see how great our life can become.

On the other hand, unrealised potential for me is one of the hardest things to witness in someone’s life. When a person takes for granted their gifting or when a depressed lifestyle sees only defeat crushes my heart. I desperately want you to get to where you belong in life!

You have such great potential!

No matter how much success you have achieved, little or great, you can go further! You can take another step, another lap, another hike up the mountain. You can expand your thinking and your productivity.

I am not talking about doing more work for the sake of doing more work. I am talking about finding the greater potential that you have inside you. That untapped ability that bubbles within your heart.

You must understand that your true potential is going to have attached with it an assignment. Jesus challenged us in the Bible to seek first the Kingdom of God. He added that when we do, everything we require to achieve this goal is available on the journey. The potential we have is actually an assignment or a vision to see the Kingdom of God realised on earth.

Your decision to seek first that Kingdom taps into your potential. As you seek the Kingdom of God you begin to see the steps you can take. It’s like the very plan of God unravels before you. That potential, that dream within, somehow connects you to a higher spiritual level. A level worth stepping up to!

Step Up!

While life is not always easy and it can become filled with distraction, burden and defeat, life can also attract supernatural design!

You were not created for defeat. You were not put on this earth to fail. You were not birthed for a future of despair or lack. You were created to draw on the potential within. You were meant to draw out, with your imagination something solid, something concrete. You are to build, grow and expand!

God wants you to flourish in His Kingdom. His kingdom provides you with all the potential you need. You have a heart filled with power, love and a sound mind. His kingdom is full of righteousness, peace and joy! Your mind has the mind of Christ. You are connected to the life giver, the Spirit of God, and He lives in you.

You are a champion before you even start because that is how God’s plan works! He wants you to walk it out, to discover it. There are no productivity hacks for this plan, no short cuts or secrets but there is the Word of God. There is the Spirit of God. There is your passion and desire to seek first His Kingdom.

When Kingdom business is your goal, your purpose becomes clear and your inherent strength is magnified.

Attaching your desires and ambition to God can seem difficult at first. People will tell you that you are selfish and pursuing success with the wrong motive. Other people’s desire for you to fail can sometimes become overwhelming but do not give up!

I have long held the belief that the best way to learn anything is by full immersion. When I was struggling to learn music, to play bass guitar, a friend of mine told me to go all in. Play as many different songs at once. The reason this works is because you begin to recognise patterns. Most songs have the same chord progression! Learning pieces of music at the same time expanded my ability far quicker than trying to memorise one at a time! I went all in.

When I need to learn something this is the process I take. I almost become obsessive. To learn a new computer program or consume a new topic I dive in deep. A problem may arise but I have found that by allowing it to consume my consciousness the answer will be make itself known. All in.

Day and Night.

When you want to discover the plan of God for your life total immersion can be the best thing you can do! Joshua was told by God, straight after Moses the great leader of Israel died, to meditate on the Word of God day and night. His consistency to do this would allow Joshua to succeed and prosper wherever he placed his foot. His total immersion in the Word of God opened up the plan before him. He could now easily walk the plan out by taking the children of Israel with him into the promised land.

Your future has a promised land. The dream and the potential you posses deep within your heart can be drawn out and placed before you. You can get into a position with God that allows you to walk in certainty. You may never know all the details but you will have the confidence to step out and trust the leadings within.

Some steps for you to achieve your unrealised potential…

  1. See your self as a Champion. Look in the mirror and see the strength within, God has place a destiny in your heart, see this in the reflection that you behold. You contain the ability to overcome, the spirit of the victorious one lives in you.
  2. Eliminate negative self talk. Take hold of your tongue and take hold of your thought life. If you catch yourself tearing the dream down immediately replace those words with Bible talk. Bible talk always builds up, the enemy of your soul tears down.
  3. Align yourself. Find alignment with the Word of God in your heart and mind. When this happens you begin to talk what you need to talk. Fulfilment of potential is in this alignment. It takes time but the more aligned you are to how God sees you the stronger the release of potential is.
  4. Immerse yourself in the dream. The more you double down on what you know to be true the greater response you have within. You magnify the Word, you magnify the dream and the potential. The answers you need will flow freely as you consistently pursue and press in. Keep learning, keep chasing, keep seeking!
  5. Don’t stop moving. You are like a dynamo. Constant motion keeps constant power flowing. Hold fast to the dream but never stop moving forward. When you drive down the road you can hold a coffee at the same time. Your forward movement does not hamper your ability to hold onto God’s promises and plan.

I believe in you. God believes in you. I challenge you to set aside time today and seek Him. Look to Jesus. Look to the Spirit of God inside you. The answer will bubble up. The dream will rise again.

God also said to Joshua, “Arise, go over this Jordan…” That word arise means ‘to kindle, to stir up’. It’s time to see the potential within. It’s time to stir up the fire that once burned bright. Turn the flame on! You got this because it’s not by your might, your strength but by the Spirt of God within!

Jesus died for you to have eternal life. That life starts today. Live it.

Stand up. Stand out.
