Colossians 3:15 And let the peace from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state]…
The peace of God needs to rule and reign in our lives.
The peace of God is a manifestation of the leadership of the Holy Spirit within your heart. Your heart is closely connected to the Holy Spirit. When you become born again, the Spirit of God fills your heart, and when you are baptized in the Holy Ghost, your heart overflows. The Spirit of God communicates directly from your heart to the throne room of heaven. This is why the Bible calls us the temple of the Holy Ghost.
Connected to Heaven's Supply
As the temple of the Holy Ghost, we are connected to all of heaven's supply. This supply produces the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, giving us access to exactly what we need—whether that is patience, love, or joy.
Peace is the overriding evidence that we are going in the right direction. It allows us to navigate life's tough decisions using the hidden wisdom that lives inside of us. Surprisingly, the peace of God will often sit quietly inside of us even when chaos surrounds us. This is the rock Jesus spoke about in the parable of the two builders. The one who built his life on the rock of Christ built a life that remained solid within the storms. Storms may come and go, but peace can remain in your heart.
Peace as a Decision Maker
As believers, we face many decisions. If we can learn to look inside and allow peace to be the dominant decision-maker, we will have great success. Brother Hagin once shared a vision where Jesus told him, "If you will learn to follow the Holy Spirit's guidance, I will make you rich." When you have peace on the inside, you can make decisions that financially benefit you, your family, and your workplace.
This peace lives deep down—almost like it is in your gut. It is your conscience, the inward witness where your spirit is alive unto God. Your mind might be going a hundred miles a minute, but as Jesus said in Mark 11:22-23, we are to have faith in God and believe in our hearts.
The Telephone Operator
Think of it like an old-fashioned telephone operator. When someone used to ring up, they would say, "Connect me to the fire department," and the operator would physically move a wire to plug it into the right socket.
If you are plugged into the right socket on the inside, you have a clear line to heaven—which is peace. If you have a bad connection or are going to the wrong source, the line will not be clear. Confusion and a sense of misdirection are simply signs of a wrong connection.
Let peace be your umpire today.
