New Work

Natasha

I am now in personal work mode. I am actively looking to create new work regularly despite how I feel or how the work situation is. I love being able to develop my skills but more importantly my relationships. I am purposely trying to throw myself into situations where I am interacting with new people, models and clients. All part of my growth as a photographer and a businessman.

Next week I am off down London to do some work experience with photographer Adrian Weinbrecht. My goal will be to try and write a blog a night to, hopefully, share some pictures and my day to day activities. I want to have an informative week and really push myself to learn as much as I can from the business side of things…well, as much as I can in a week.

As I push to see myself expand and my work improve I hope to be constantly updating my work and website so please check back regularly. Also, feel free to ask any questions you may have about my work by becoming a member of my facebook page. Comments and feedback welcomed!

Thanks to all who read. Stay inspired and push to see the best in whatever area of life you are choosing to live in!

Blogging again…

Naomi_Tuckett-6

I need to apologise, my blogging of late has been poor. A lot of reasons for this and I don’t really want to go into all of them. The main one is really a lack of something…inspiration, interest, excitement…I am still searching. Another reason has simply been a lack of direction. If any of you have followed my blog over the last year you will have noticed the variations of how I present my work, how I write about my photography and my life associated with it. Lately, I have found myself questioning the direction I am taking within my work. I listen to other people and I change accordingly or I just give up on a thought I had and change everything.

Well the questioning now is over. The focussing is beginning. I no longer want to be moved around in every direction. This year is about moving forward and expanding.

I sat down at the beginning this year and over a few days have written down some goals. Goal writing is important, a story I heard lately was about a 40 year old golfer. At the end of the most successful year that he has ever had winning he was asked a simple question, “what did you do this year that was different?”. He replied, “I wrote down my goals.”

I have made that same commitment.

The goal that I specifically feel is relevant to me as an artist is to establish my heart on a successful business model. Notice how I didn’t say set up a successful business model. I have purposely stated that I want to establish my heart on one. I recently was listening to a speaker who has a thriving church of thousands in Canada. He was talking about persuading the heart. He mentioned that ever since 1995 until recently he averaged a book a day (a day, not a month). He focussed on business skills, finances, people skills, etc. If you listen to him speak you will clearly hear the benefit of all that study. This is my year to do that. I have realised that I can set aside time to exercise my body and work on my relationships but can I set aside time to develop my business, creativity and self? I believe that I need to persuade my heart to understand more, believe more and share more!

Another reason for this post – inspiration. I had stopped writing down my inspiration. One of the main reason I want to write in this blog is to share. I don’t want to just tell you about what I am doing but I want to see you as a reader inspired. As I attempt to develop the things I need to develop what can you spend time on developing? Don’t just think you should do it! Do it! Take time on that relationship, take time on your business or musical skill. Develop your ideas and go out and make something happen with it.

How do you do it? Read. Learn. Take a course. Sign up to online training. Find something that maintains your interest and work at it. If you don’t like exercise videos, go to a gym! I have just discovered Nike+ and for the last four weeks I have managed to run every other day!

On a side note: The photos today are the beginning of a project that I have started. More details – click here! They are of Naomi. She was so much fun to shoot, especially when she started opening up to the camera! I am constantly looking for volunteers for this project so please contact me or let someone you know that might be suitable to contact me!

Keep developing yourself and enjoy life – another cool finding – people who enjoy life most, enjoy it when they feel like they are growing!! : )

Antonio

Had the pleasure of shooting dancer Antonio, last week. I think we made some awesome pictures for her and my portfolio. In the future I may concentrate and come up with a dance portfolio specifically for my site. I love action and the creativity behind dance shoots. They can be quite hectic and challenging, capturing the style of the individual while getting the angle, lighting and passion into the shots! I am looking forward to working with more individuals in the future.

Fran

Fran was one of my models for the last post on Crisis Pregnancy. I just love the colours in these images from her eyes, hair to her jumper…so I thought I’d give her her own post. Also, cause the above image didn’t really fit the brief : )

Crisis Pregnancy Care, Halifax

_DSC6496

I have been asked to produced some images for the Crisis Pregnancy Centre in Halifax, West Yorkshire. The images are for the charity to put into their flyers and promotions. I think that the images convey the mood that is meant for the advertising. The centre offers free pregnancy advice but also counseling for women who have had a mis-carriage or an abortion.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to put up the final images in the context of the design. Thank you to all who were involved with the shoots!
